Day 1: Come at ease at the open-air pool of Huéscar or at the Fuencaliente, a natural source containing sulphur water. Of course you can stay and relax on your own terrace. After the typical siesta, stores re-open at 5pm. You can visit the centre of Huéscar and have a local snack in a Spanish bar or restaurant.

Day 2: Visit to the local market (on Thursdays in Huéscar), visit to the small neighbour village Castril with its beautiful waterfalls and/or one of many hikes in its nature reserve. Afterwards you can pay a visit to the lakes El Portillo, La Bollera or El Negratin to get a tan on a classic or a naturist beach of your choice. When returning to our cuevas, enjoy the beautiful sunset, a wonderful spectacle between sun and mountains.

Day 3: Granada is only an hour and a half drive away. Visit the Albaicin area with its typical gipsy music and narrow streets, the beautiful cathedral and above all do not forget the Alhambra, definitely worth a visit. To order tickets (order them rather in advance) go to

Day 4: Visit the town Santiago de la Espada via the lake San Clemente. You will drive around the next but highest mountain of Andalusia, the Sagra (2.381 meters). On the way back, you have the possibility to visit Puebla de Don Fadrique, known for its 16th century Gothic-Renaissance church. While driving there, make sure you take up the wonderful views of the surroundings. Along the way you will see the gigantic sequoias as well as the famous restaurant Collados de la Sagra, known for its excellent fish, flesh and fowl.

Day 5: Why not pay a visit to the Spanish coastline? The villages Aguilas and Santiago de los Terreros are still without to much tourism, and offer you a beautiful fortress and stunning walks along the sea. On your way back there are two more towns worth a visit: Velez Blanco with its enormous castle and Velez Rubio with its stunning cathedral. Along with those, it is possible to visit the famous ‘cuevas de los letreros’, caves where prehistoric rock paintings have been discovered. Closer to Huéscar is the small village Orce with its 7-tower stronghold and prehistoric museum.

  Day 6: Quesada and Cazorla are two picturesque towns worth a visit. The beautiful park offers you a lot of possibilities and hikes with stunning views of the mountains along the road. In the evening there is the possibility of participating to a Flamenco workshop, up to three times a week.

Day 7: The Sierra Nevada can be visited trough several accesses. One of them is the Puerto de la Ragua at 2.000 meters. In summer, a beautiful nature reserve, in winter the place to be for a day of skiing. On the road to the Sierra Nevada, you will pass Calahorra, a village with a magnificent castle, only to be visited on Wednesdays. Further down the Sierra Nevada, the Alpujarras are a must to visit.
